It was a novel full of fantasy and children may have ever dream. It was a capital story of adventure, including the poor but brave boy, the faith partners, the dangerous situations and the happy ending. But Roald Dahl, who was the author of James and the Giant Peach, used personification to set up the whole story and made this capital adventure vivid. It was not the normal story. Roald Dahl created the different kinds insects having their strongly images and which were good at their gift. For example, Miss Spider was a cool and smart woman in this story. Besides, she was good at making ropes, just like the real spiders net the web to catch its quarry. Roald Dahl put many comparisons in this story. The evil aunts and the childlike child were the best example. The aunts loved the money and dislike James, who was the leading role. They ordered James not to play or talk to another child and he wanted to make the friends. Even James have never had a friend, he got along with the new friends, the insect inhabitants. Each insect inhabitant was happy to greet the human little boy. It encouraged the shy children that making friends was not a hard job, as long as they wanted to do.

In this story, there were some metaphors. First, the flying peach was as like his dream, flying away from his aunts’ control. It meant freedom and a dream for every child. Second, New York City meant the new start and James could walk from losing his parents. His parents were died in zoo of New York. It was a part of James’s memory of his happy family not the rough aunts. And the evil aunts were caught by his insect friends in New York City.

In the real life, we have to get along with different kinds people with different personalities. Some person is as spinelessas the Earthwarm. However, it is not the important things. The most important is the book tells us not only how we can balance the divergence and accept the others opinions but also how important the fantasy is. We forgot the childhood and the ability of making dreams. Then, we become the adult, as like James aunts, loving the money. The giant peach will not appear in the real life but our fantasy is still alive. Everything is possible. Besides, every person has she or he’s advantage and do the job which is you good at. I learn that do not limit your gift and fantasy.
